Edinburgh to Inverness via Falkirk, Dukes Pass (thanks to an amazing suggestion), Three Lochs Trail, Fort William and Loch Ness!
The largest equine sculpture in the world, the Kelpies stand proud alongside the Forth & Clyde Canal. In Scottish folklore, a kelpie is a dangerous shape-shifting water creature that can appear on land as a horse. The kelpie appears to their human victims as a grey or white horse, entices them to ride on their back, then carries them down to a watery grave.
The Falkirk Wheel was a must on our route - having learned about the world's only rotating boat lift at school, we couldn’t come all this way and not make this a stop!
Dukes Pass through the Trossachs
One of the best driving roads in the UK, originally build by Duke of Montrose in the 19th Century - improved later after Sir Walter Scott's poem The Lady of the Lake drew tourists to the area in droves.
